{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-339.225","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 339.225","heading":"Minors eleven and over as golf caddies -- Restrictions.","body":"(1) The provisions of KRS 339.220 to the contrary notwithstanding, minors age eleven\n(11) years and over may be employed as caddies at golf courses subject to the\nfollowing provisions:\n(a) A \"caddy\" is an individual who offers his or her services to golfers at  golf\nclubs both private and public. His or her duties during course of play include\nthe carrying of golf clubs, direction to the golfer, assistance to the player in the\ngeneral maintenance and upkeep of golf courses, including replacement of\ndivots, repai r of ball marks, raking of sand traps, location of golf balls and\ncontrol of the pin. Duties normally referred to as \"fore -caddying\" or\n\"shagging\" of golf balls are not within the scope of this definition;\n(b) No minor under eleven (11) years of age shall be employed, or suffered to\nwork as a caddy for hire;\n(c) Caddies under fourteen (14) years of age are restricted to caddying one (1)\nround of eighteen (18) holes in any one (1) day;\n(d) Minors eleven (11) and twelve (12) years of age may not carry golf ba gs and\nare restricted to caddying with a \"pull cart\" only;\n(e) Minors thirteen (13), fourteen (14), and fifteen (15) years of age may be\nemployed to carry golf bags provided the bags do not exceed thirty -five (35)\npounds in weight;\n(f) No minor under sixte en (16) years of age shall be employed, permitted, or\nsuffered to operate power-driven golf carts in the course of their employment,\nor any power-driven maintenance equipment; and\n(g) All persons employing minors as caddies are subject to all provisions of  this\nchapter and the regulations issued hereunder.\n(2) The Department of Workplace Standards shall promulgate administrative\nregulations necessary to carry out the provisions of this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 339"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=32184","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:27Z","sha256":"015d472607c45d873db049a7c919980185f4ecfdb663c2cf0c49399d829731df","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-339.220","next":"us-ky/krs-339.230"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
