{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-342.794","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 342.794","heading":"\"B\" reader list.","body":"(1) The commissioner shall maintain a list of duly qualified \"B\" reader physicians who\nare licensed in the Commonwealth and are board -certified pulmonary specialists,\ncurrently certified by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health\n(NIOSH) who h ave agreed to perform pulmonary examinations, interpret chest X -\nrays, and review other medical evidence pursuant to KRS 342.316 for a fee to be\nfixed by the commissioner and paid by the Kentucky coal workers' pneumoconiosis\nfund or the carrier, whichever i s the appropriate payment obligor, the provisions of\nKRS 342.1242 notwithstanding, for claims filed on or before June 30, 2017, and by\nthe employer for claims filed after June 30, 2017.\n(2) \"'B' reader\" means a physician who has demonstrated proficiency in  evaluating\nchest roentgenograms for roentgenographic quality and in the use of the ILO\nclassification for interpreting chest roentgenograms for pneumoconiosis and other\ndiseases by taking and passing a specially designed proficiency examination given\non behalf of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) or\nby the Appalachian Laboratory for Occupational Safety and Health (ALOSH), or\nsuccessors.\n(3) \"Board-certified pulmonary specialist\" means a physician licensed in the\nCommonwealth who is board -certified in internal medicine with a certification in\nthe subspecialty of pulmonary medicine by the American Board of Internal\nMedicine.","path":["KRS Chapter 342"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47629","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:32Z","sha256":"5a3aa005daed27f1d41757934ed64dfc54d92be476e1106255f578a58a104106","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-342.792","next":"us-ky/krs-342.796"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
