{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-35.277","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 35.277","heading":"Maximum limits.","body":"(1) The punishment which a court -martial may direct for an offense may not exceed\nsuch limits as prescribed by this code, but in no instance may a sentence exceed\nmore than ten (10) years for a military offense, nor shall a sentence of death be\nadjudged. A con viction by general court -martial of any military offense for which\nan accused may receive a sentence of confinement for more than one (1) year is a\nfelony offense. All other military offenses are misdemeanors.\n(2) The limits of punishment for violations of  the punitive articles prescribed in this\ncode shall be lesser of the sentences prescribed by the manual for courts -martial of\nthe United States in effect on January 1, 2004, and the state manual for courts -\nmartial, but in no instance shall any punishment exceed that authorized by this code.","path":["KRS Chapter 35"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41932","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:52Z","sha256":"59d4d12ea213ff77a12d3d5e294a1b213e4b5eb3c93e726717f509cc744fda92","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-35.275","next":"us-ky/krs-35.280"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
