{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-351.140","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 351.140","heading":"Duties and authority of mine inspectors -- Frequency of underground and","body":"surface mine inspections.\nEach mine inspector shall give his entire time and attention to the duties of his office,\nwhich shall consist of the following:\n(1) Inspecting mines and aiding, under the direction of the commissioner, in carrying\nout and enforcing the provisions of the law relating to the inspection of mines;\n(2) Training officials and workmen in and about the mines in first aid and mine rescue\nmethods;\n(3) Advising officials and workmen in methods pertaining to safety in all its phases and\nin methods pertaining to the prevention of mine fires and explosions;\n(4) Taking charge of mine rescue and recovery work whenever a mine fire, mine\nexplosion or other serious accid ent occurs within his district, and the commissioner\nis not present, and assisting in such work in other districts when so directed by the\ncommissioner;\n(5) Reopening mines or portions of mines that have been sealed on account of fire or\nany other cause, when directed by the commissioner to do so;\n(6) Inspecting each underground and surface mine in accordance with KRS 351.090(1);\n(7) It shall be permissible for a mine inspector to inspect any coal preparation plant or\nsurface facility of any mining operatio n of coal including any overland coal belts;\nand\n(8) A mine inspector shall have the express authority to enter upon the premises of and\ninspect any coal mine, including any overland coal belts, at any reasonable time.","path":["KRS Chapter 351"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46126","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:37Z","sha256":"1c210b1c357387ac96dc08c39e64fa15fff0ca1dbe92c71de79366c9fdc781a3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-351.130","next":"us-ky/krs-351.150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
