{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-355.3-115","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 355.3-115","heading":"Incomplete instrument.","body":"(1) \"Incomplete instrument\" means a signed writing, whether or not issued by the\nsigner, the contents of which show at the time of signing that it is incomplete but\nthat the signer intended it to be completed by the addition of words or numbers.\n(2) Subject to  subsection (3) of this section, if an incomplete instrument is an\ninstrument under KRS 355.3 -104, it may be enforced according to its terms if it is\nnot completed, or according to its terms as augmented by completion. If an\nincomplete instrument is not an  instrument under KRS 355.3 -104, but, after\ncompletion, the requirements of KRS 355.3 -104, are met, the instrument may be\nenforced according to its terms as augmented by completion.\n(3) If words or numbers are added to an incomplete instrument without auth ority of the\nsigner, there is an alteration of the incomplete instrument under KRS 355.3-407.\n(4) The burden of establishing that words or numbers were added to an incomplete\ninstrument without authority of the signer is on the person asserting the lack of\nauthority.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=33443","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:44Z","sha256":"8d2a6929c9706ce8045a578f830b253b6c4b75f0018a127dfa448a272e9472ef","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-355.3-114","next":"us-ky/krs-355.3-116"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
