{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-355.3-204","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 355.3-204","heading":"Indorsement.","body":"(1) \"Indorsement\" means a signature, other than that of a signer as maker, drawer, or\nacceptor, that alone or accompanied by other words is made on an instrument for\nthe purpose of:\n(a) Negotiating the instrument;\n(b) Restricting payment of the instrument; or\n(c) Incurring indorser's liability on the instrument,\nbut regardless of the intent of the signer, a signature and its accompanying words is\nan indorsement unless the accompanying words, terms of the instrument, place of\nthe signature, or other circumstances unambiguously indicate that the signature was\nmade for a purpose other than indorsement. For the purpose of determining whether\na signature is made on an instrument, a paper affixed to the instrument is a part of\nthe instrument.\n(2) \"Indorser\" means a person who makes an indorsement.\n(3) For the purpose of determining whether the transferee of an instrument is a holder,\nan indorsement that transfers a security interest in the instrument is effective as an\nunqualified indorsement of the instrument.\n(4) If an instrument is payable to a holder under a name that is not the name of the\nholder, indorsement may be made by the holder in the name stated in the instrument\nor in the holder's name or both, but signature in both names may be required by a\nperson paying or taking the instrument for value or collection.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=33454","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:44Z","sha256":"83ae2d1d23bc3ba615fd7ec2591918da5ff087986aa765225a94615aad3c73b7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-355.3-203","next":"us-ky/krs-355.3-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
