{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-355.9-210","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 355.9-210","heading":"Request for accounting -- Request regarding list of collateral or","body":"statement of account.\n(1) In this section:\n(a) \"Request\" means a record of a type described in paragraph (b), (c), or (d) of\nthis subsection.\n(b) \"Request for an accounting\" means a record signed by a debtor requesting that\nthe recipient provide an accounting of the unpaid obligations secured by\ncollateral and reasonably identifying the transaction or relationship that is the\nsubject of the request.\n(c) \"Request regardin g a list of collateral\" means a record signed by a debtor\nrequesting that the recipient approve or correct a list of what the debtor\nbelieves to be the collateral securing an obligation and reasonably identifying\nthe transaction or relationship that is the subject of the request.\n(d) \"Request regarding a statement of account\" means a record signed by a debtor\nrequesting that the recipient approve or correct a statement indicating what the\ndebtor believes to be the aggregate amount of unpaid obligations secu red by\ncollateral as of a specified date and reasonably identifying the transaction or\nrelationship that is the subject of the request.\n(2) Subject to subsections (3), (4), (5), and (6) of this section, a secured party, other\nthan a buyer of accounts, chattel paper, payment intangibles, or promissory notes or\na consignor, shall comply with a request within fourteen (14) days after receipt:\n(a) In the case of a request for an accounting, by signing and sending to the\ndebtor an accounting; and\n(b) In the case  of a request regarding a list of collateral or a request regarding a\nstatement of account, by signing and sending to the debtor an approval or\ncorrection.\n(3) A secured party that claims a security interest in all of a particular type of collateral\nowned by the debtor may comply with a request regarding a list of collateral by\nsending to the debtor a signed record including a statement to that effect within\nfourteen (14) days after receipt.\n(4) A person that receives a request regarding a list of collatera l, claims no interest in\nthe collateral when it receives the request, and claimed an interest in the collateral\nat an earlier time shall comply with the request within fourteen (14) days after\nreceipt by sending to the debtor a signed record:\n(a) Disclaiming any interest in the collateral; and\n(b) If known to the recipient, providing the name and mailing address of any\nassignee of or successor to the recipient's interest in the collateral.\n(5) A person that receives a request for an accounting or a  request regarding a\nstatement of account, claims no interest in the obligations when it receives the\nrequest, and claimed an interest in the obligations at an earlier time shall comply\nwith the request within fourteen (14) days after receipt by sending to  the debtor a\nsigned record:\n(a) Disclaiming any interest in the obligations; and\n(b) If known to the recipient, providing the name and mailing address of any\nassignee of or successor to the recipient's interest in the obligations.\n(6) (a) A debtor is entitled without charge to one (1) response to a request under this\nsection during any six (6) month period.\n(b) The secured party may require payment of a charge not exceeding twenty -five\ndollars ($25) for each additional response.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55679","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:47Z","sha256":"753944bd35bdd69406b41d6cba5facd84979c51f101144b5f740c4f92ab79b36","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-355.9-209","next":"us-ky/krs-355.9-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
