{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-355.9-310","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 355.9-310","heading":"When filing required to perfect security interest or agricultural lien --","body":"Security interests and agricultural liens to which filing provisions do not apply.\n(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2) of this section and KRS 355.9-\n312(2), a financing statement must be filed to perfect all security interests and\nagricultural liens.\n(2) The filing of a financing statement is not necessary to perfect a security interest:\n(a) That is perfected under KRS 355.9-308(4), (5), (6), or (7);\n(b) That is perfected under KRS 355.9-309 when it attaches;\n(c) In property subject to a statute, regulation, or treaty described in KRS 355.9 -\n311(1);\n(d) In goods in possession of a bailee which is perfected under KRS 355.9 -\n312(4)(a) or (b);\n(e) In certificated securities, documents, goods, or instruments which is perfected\nwithout filing, control, or possession under KRS 355.9-312(5), (6), or (7);\n(f) In collateral in the secured party's possession under KRS 355.9-313;\n(g) In a certificated security which is perfected by delivery of the security\ncertificate to the secured party under KRS 355.9-313;\n(h) In controllable accounts, controllable electronic records, controllable payment\nintangibles, deposit accounts, electronic documents, investment propert y, or\nletter-of-credit rights which is perfected by control under KRS 355.9-314;\n(i) In proceeds which is perfected under KRS 355.9-315;\n(j) That is perfected under KRS 355.9-316; or\n(k) In chattel paper which is perfected by possession and control under KRS\n355.9-3141.\n(3) If a secured party assigns a perfected security interest or agricultural lien, a filing\nunder this article is not required to continue the perfected status of the secur ity\ninterest against creditors of and transferees from the original debtor.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=55685","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:48Z","sha256":"2414fb99063eb2f975dc908ea2038742c23c76fff541adacedae76cae2223fdb","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-355.9-309","next":"us-ky/krs-355.9-311"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
