{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-355.9-508","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 355.9-508","heading":"Effectiveness of financing statement if new debtor becomes bound by","body":"security agreement.\n(1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, a filed financing statement naming an\noriginal debtor is effective to perfect a security interest in collateral  in which a new\ndebtor has or acquires rights to the extent that the financing statement would have\nbeen effective had the original debtor acquired rights in the collateral.\n(2) If the difference between the name of the original debtor and that of the new debtor\ncauses a filed financing statement that is effective under subsection (1) of this\nsection to be seriously misleading under KRS 355.9-506:\n(a) The financing statement is effective to perfect a security interest in collateral\nacquired by the new debto r before, and within four (4) months after, the new\ndebtor becomes bound under KRS 355.9-203(4); and\n(b) The financing statement is not effective to perfect a security interest in\ncollateral acquired by the new debtor more than four (4) months after the ne w\ndebtor becomes bound under KRS 355.9 -203(4) unless an initial financing\nstatement providing the name of the new debtor is filed before the expiration\nof that time.\n(3) This section does not apply to collateral as to which a filed financing statement\nremains effective against the new debtor under KRS 355.9-507(1).","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=33813","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:48Z","sha256":"052021a26e62bc8e26feb7d67937d440e83fdac0952fbd29901a8a4f5e3b7bb8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-355.9-507","next":"us-ky/krs-355.9-509"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
