{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-355.9-512","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 355.9-512","heading":"Amendment of financing statement.","body":"(1) Subject to KRS 355.9 -509, a person may add or delete collateral covered by,\ncontinue or terminate the effectiveness of, or, subject to subsection (5) of this\nsection, otherwise amend the information provided in, a financing statement by\nfiling an amendment that:\n(a) Identifies, by its file number, the initial financing statement to which the\namendment relates; and\n(b) If the amendment relates to an initial financing statement filed in a filing\noffice described in KRS 355.9 -501(1)(a), provides the informatio n specified\nin KRS 355.9-502(2).\n(2) Except as otherwise provided in KRS 355.9 -515, the filing of an amendment does\nnot extend the period of effectiveness of the financing statement.\n(3) A financing statement that is amended by an amendment that adds colla teral is\neffective as to the added collateral only from the date of the filing of the\namendment.\n(4) A financing statement that is amended by an amendment that adds a debtor is\neffective as to the added debtor only from the date of the filing of the amendment.\n(5) An amendment is ineffective to the extent it:\n(a) Purports to delete all debtors and fails to provide the name of a debtor to be\ncovered by the financing statement; or\n(b) Purports to delete all secured parties of record and fails to provide the name of\na new secured party of record.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=33817","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:58:48Z","sha256":"1119ac1cf7b10158fa92bab2bc0dcdec6489846863d2243745d7940ab343cbca","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-355.9-511","next":"us-ky/krs-355.9-513"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
