{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-36.042","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 36.042","heading":"Kentucky Guard Youth Challenge Program -- Director -- Strategic plan --","body":"Student's participation time attributable to district.\n(1) The Kentucky Guard Youth Challenge Program is hereby established within the\nDepartment of Military Affairs to se rve as the state's program for participation in\nthe National Guard Youth Challenge Program established in 32 U.S.C. sec. 509 or\nany successor program. The program shall establish at least one (1) campus for\nprogram operations and may establish additional c ampuses as funding and demand\nallow. The program shall serve as an alternative education program that serves each\nschool district in the Commonwealth.\n(2) The Kentucky Guard Youth Challenge Program shall be designed to align and\ncomply with federal statute  and administrative regulations for the National Guard\nYouth Challenge Program and associated guidance provided by the United States\nDepartment of Defense.\n(3) The Kentucky Guard Youth Challenge Program shall be under the direction of the\nadjutant general or designee. The adjutant general or designee shall:\n(a) Appoint a director of the Kentucky Guard Youth Challenge Program to\noversee the daily management of the program; and\n(b) Adopt a strategic plan for the program's schools to ensure continuous\nimprovement.\n(4) For purposes of the school assessment and accountability system established in\nKRS Chapter 158, the Kentucky Department of Education shall, through policy or\nthe promulgation of an administrative regulation, provide that the time each student\nis participating in the program is attributable to the district sending the student to\nparticipate in the program.","path":["KRS Chapter 36"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54079","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:54Z","sha256":"15f95691137935eb4b0dcf5fc0fdb163e602811472395fd0f9e48c2442ac52cc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-36.040","next":"us-ky/krs-36.045"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
