{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-36.390","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 36.390","heading":"Legislative findings on military burial honors -- Authority to promulgate","body":"administrative regulations.\n(1) The Commonwealth of Kentucky recognizes the need to provide for honorable\nburials for Kentuckians who have served their state and nation in the Armed Forces.\nHistorically these burial services have been conducted by the active military units in\nKentucky, the Kentucky National Guard, the military reserves, and the veterans'\nservice organizations. However, increasing death rates, declining military resources,\nand an aging membership of veterans' service organizations present the need for\nnew initiatives in support of military burial honors.\n(2) To correct this situation, and recognizing the immediate need, the Department of\nMilitary Affairs shall overs ee a Military Burial Honor Guard Program, in\ncoordination with the Department of Veterans' Affairs, on behalf of the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky.\n(3) The Department of Military Affairs, in consultation with and as a supplement to the\nDepartment of Defense, ac tive United States military commands in Kentucky, the\nDepartment of Veterans' Affairs, the military reserves, and veterans service\norganizations, shall implement and administer the provisions of KRS 36.390 to\n36.396 through the promulgation of administrati ve regulations.
