{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-36.472","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 36.472","heading":"Military family assistance trust fund board -- Membership -- Terms --","body":"Meetings.\n(1) (a) The military family assistance trust fund board is hereby created for the\npurpose of administering the trust fund created under KRS 36.470. The board\nshall be att ached to the Department of Military Affairs for administrative\npurposes. The board shall be composed of seven (7) members as follows:\n1. Four (4) members, expert in military family matters, at least one (1) of\nwhom shall be a member of the Kentucky Nationa l Guard, appointed by\nthe Governor;\n2. One (1) member, expert in military family matters, appointed by the\nPresident of the Senate;\n3. One (1) member, expert in military family matters, appointed by the\nSpeaker of the House of Representatives; and\n4. The adjutant general, who shall serve as a nonvoting member.\n(b) Appointments referred to in paragraph (a) of this subsection shall be made\nwithin sixty (60) days of April 25, 2006.\n(2) The adjutant general, or a majority of the board members, shall arrange for  the first\nboard meeting as soon as possible after all board members are appointed, but no\nlater than June 15, 2006.\n(3) Appointed board members shall serve without compensation but may receive\nreimbursement for their actual and necessary expenses incurred  in the performance\nof their duties.\n(4) The term of each appointed member shall be four (4) years, except any person\nserving on the board prior to July 15, 2012, shall serve until the expiration of his or\nher current term. The subsequent appointments shall be for terms as follows:\n(a) The Governor shall appoint two (2) members to a term of two (2) years and\ntwo (2) members to a term of three (3) years; the President of the Senate and\nthe Speaker of the House of Representatives shall each appoint one (1)\nmember to a term of four (4) years; and\n(b) Upon expiration of the terms established in paragraph (a) of this subsection,\nall appointments shall be for a term of four (4) years.\n(5) An appointed member whose term has expired may continue to serve until a\nsuccessor is appointed and qualifies. A member who is appointed to an unexpired\nterm shall serve the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\nA member may se rve two (2) consecutive four (4) year terms and shall not be\nreappointed for four (4) years after the completion of those terms.\n(6) A majority of the full membership of the board shall constitute a quorum.\n(7) (a) Except as provided in paragraph (b) of this subsection, at the first meeting, the\nboard shall elect, by majority vote, a president who shall preside at all\nmeetings and coordinate the functions and activities of the board. The\npresident shall be elected or reelected each calendar year thereafter.\n(b) The adjutant general shall not serve as the president of the board.\n(8) The board shall meet at least two (2) times annually but may meet more frequently,\nas deemed necessary, subject to call by the president or by request of a majority of\nthe board members.","path":["KRS Chapter 36"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=40476","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:55Z","sha256":"2660d72ff53fac92539fd914c28cc2946ae9252a9788960f55de4b5655ba0160","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-36.470","next":"us-ky/krs-36.474"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
