{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-365.720","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 365.720","heading":"Definitions for KRS 365.720 to 365.730.","body":"As used in KRS 365.720 to 365.730, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Business\" means a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, limited liability\ncompany, association, or other entity, however organized and whether or not\norganized to operate at a profit. \"Business\" shall not mean a bank as defined in 12\nU.S.C. sec. 1813(a) or Subtitles 1, 2, and 3 of KRS Chapter 286, a credit union as\ndefined in 12 U.S.C. sec. 1752 or Subtitle 6 of KRS Chapter 286, a savings\nassociation as defined in 12 U.S .C. sec. 1813(b), or an association as defined in\nSubtitle 5 of KRS Chapter 286. The term includes an entity that destroys records;\n(2) \"Customer\" means an individual who provides personal information to a business\nfor the purpose of purchasing or leasing a product or obtaining a service for\nbusiness;\n(3) \"Individual\" means a natural person;\n(4) \"Personally identifiable information\" means data capable of being associated with a\nparticular customer through one (1) or more identifiers, including but not limit ed to\na customer's name, address, telephone number, electronic mail address, fingerprints,\nphotographs or computerized image, Social Security number, passport number,\ndriver identification number, personal identification card number or code, date of\nbirth, medical information, financial information, tax information, and disability\ninformation; and\n(5) \"Records\" means any material, regardless of the physical form, on which\ninformation is recorded or preserved by any means, including in written or spoken\nwords, graphically depicted, printed, or electromagnetically transmitted.","path":["KRS Chapter 365"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=34842","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:02Z","sha256":"a04d3812aa105582042f07381f27bff42024bea0aefc2525014fc7dfaca48742","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-365.710","next":"us-ky/krs-365.725"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
