{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-367.550","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 367.550","heading":"Termination of service contract by military service member.","body":"(1) Any person who enters military service or a member of the Armed Forces of the\nUnited States, Reserves, or National Guard, after receiving official orders to\nrelocate for a period of service of no less than ninety (90) days, may terminate or\nsuspend, without penalty or fee, any of the following contracts for services:\n(a) Internet;\n(b) Television and cable;\n(c) Athletic club or gym memberships; and\n(d) Satellite radio.\n(2) Termination or suspension of a contract under this section shall be made by delivery\nof a written or electronic notice to the specified service provider with a copy of the\nservice member's official military orders.\n(3) A termination or suspension under this section shall be effective on the day notice is\ngiven under subsection (2) of this section.\n(4) A service member who terminates or suspends a contract for services under the\nprovisions of this section may reinstate the provisions of services upon providing\nwritten or electronic notice to the service provider that he or she is no longer on\nactive military service.\n(5) Nothing in this section shall be construed to conflict with the provisions of the\nfederal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, 50 U.S.C. secs. 3901 et seq.\n(6) Nothing in this section shall be construed to excuse or limit the liab ility of the\nservice member of an outstanding balance due to the service provider.\n(7) The provisions of this section shall only apply to contracts entered into on and after\nJune 27, 2019.","path":["KRS Chapter 367"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48671","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:04Z","sha256":"48631fc834d5945577a0145c8c362414a4804731be97e11831e415059252cbb0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-367.540","next":"us-ky/krs-367.570"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
