{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-367.978","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 367.978","heading":"Form of disclosures -- Receipts for payments made by cash or money","body":"order.\n(1) The lessor shall disclose to the consumer the information required by KRS 367.976\nto 367.985. In a transaction involving more than one (1) consumer, a lessor shall\ndisclose only to one (1) of the consumers who are primarily obligated. In a\ntransaction involving more than one (1) lessor, only one (1) lessor need make the\nrequired disclosures.\n(2) The disclosures required under KRS 367.976 to 367.985 shall be made no later than\nthe time the lessor delivers the merchandise to the consumer, or upon\nconsummation of the rental-purchase agreement, whichever is earlier.\n(3) The disclosures shall be made using words and phrases of common meaning in a\nform that the consumer may keep. The disclosures required under KRS 367.977\nshall be made a part of the rental -purchase agreement or provided on a separate\nform. The required disclosures shall be set forth clearly and conspicuously. The\ndisclosures shall be placed all together, on the front side of the rental -purchase\nagreement or on a separate form. The form setting forth the required disclosures\nshall contain spaces for the consumer's signature and the date immediately below\nthe disclosures. The requirements of this subsection shall not have been complied\nwith unless the consumer signs the statement and receives at t he time disclosures\nare made a legible copy of the signed statement. The inclusion in the required\ndisclosures of a statement that the consumer received a legible copy of those\ndisclosures shall create a rebuttable presumption of receipt thereof.\n(4) Information required to be disclosed may be given in the form of estimates and shall\nbe identified as such when the lessor does not know the exact information.\n(5) If a disclosure becomes inaccurate as the result of any act, occurrence, or agreement\nafter deliv ery of the required disclosures, the resulting inaccuracy shall not be a\nviolation of KRS 367.976 to 367.985.\n(6) At the lessor's option, information in addition to that required by KRS 367.977 may\nbe disclosed if the additional information is not stated, utilized, or placed in a\nmanner which will contradict, obscure, or distract attention from the required\ninformation.\n(7) A lessor shall make available a written receipt for each payment made by cash or\nmoney order.","path":["KRS Chapter 367"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=35150","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:06Z","sha256":"4d70dfcd0c419245c9b8cf11bc88c3590a6d2ffaa6e6fb1dfff2b5ee666b0223","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-367.977","next":"us-ky/krs-367.979"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
