{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-376.290","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 376.290","heading":"Lien on watches and jewelry for repairs -- Sale for charges.","body":"(1) Any person performing work upon any watch, clock or jewelry for a price shall\nhave a lien upon that article for the amount due for the work. The lien shall include\nthe value or agreed price of all materials furnished in connection with the work,\nwhether added to the article or not. The lien may be enforced by legal action or as\nhereafter provided.\n(2) If the account remains unpaid six (6) months after completing the work, the person\nholding the lien may, upon thirty (30) days' notice in writing to the owner specifying\nthe amount due and informing the owner that the payment of the amount due within\nthirty (30) days will entitle him to redeem the property, sell the article at public or\nbona fide private sale to satisfy the account. The notice may be served by mail\ndirected to the owner's last known address, or, if the owner or his address is\nunknown, it may be published pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.\n(3) The proceeds of the sale, after paying the expenses thereof, shall be applied in\nliquidation of the indebtedne ss secured by the lien, and the balance, if any, shall be\nheld for a period of twelve (12) months for the owner, and if it is not called for in\nthat time it shall be paid into the district school fund.","path":["KRS Chapter 376"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=35318","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:08Z","sha256":"6b9e16dbc1a71f0b0cd3563a3d0008a08020ae86657e768dcd2e17dbcf140f72","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-376.281","next":"us-ky/krs-376.300"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
