{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-387.818","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 387.818","heading":"Cooperation between courts.","body":"(1) In a guardianship or protective proceeding in this state, a court of this state may\nrequest the appropriate court of another state to do any of the following:\n(a) Hold an evidentiary hearing;\n(b) Order a person in that state to produce evidence or give tes timony pursuant to\nprocedures of that state;\n(c) Order that an evaluation or assessment be made of the respondent;\n(d) Order any appropriate investigation of a person involved in a proceeding;\n(e) Forward to the court of this state a certified copy of the transcript or other\nrecord of a hearing under paragraph (a) of this subsection or any other\nproceeding, any evidence otherwise produced under paragraph (b) of this\nsubsection, and any evaluation or assessment prepared in compliance with an\norder under paragraph (c) or (d) of this subsection;\n(f) Issue any order necessary to ensure the appearance in the proceeding of a\nperson whose presence is necessary for the court to make a determination,\nincluding the respondent or the incapacitated or protected person; and\n(g) Issue an order authorizing the release of medical, financial, criminal, or other\nrelevant information in that state, including protected health information as\ndefined in 45 C.F.R. sec. 160.103, as amended.\n(2) If a court of another state in which a  guardianship or protective proceeding is\npending requests assistance of the kind provided in subsection (1) of this section, a\ncourt of this state has jurisdiction for the limited purpose of granting the request or\nmaking reasonable efforts to comply with the request.","path":["KRS Chapter 387"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=39706","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:21Z","sha256":"a0f44c784eab16ddd511be68c3333859b9c869cd84362cdc18a38618a23331c7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-387.816","next":"us-ky/krs-387.820"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
