{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-393.030","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 393.030","heading":"Disposition of property subject to escheat.","body":"(1) The personal representative of a person, any part of whose property is not\ndistributed by will, and who died without heirs or distributees entitled to it shall\nsettle their accounts within one (1) year after qualifying, and pay to the department\nthe proceeds of all personal property, first deducting the proper legal liabilities of\nthe estate.\n(2) If the whole personal property cannot be settled and the accounts closed within one\nyear, the settlement as far as practicable, shall then be made and the proceeds  paid\nto the department, and the residue shall be settled and paid as soon thereafter as can\nbe properly done.\n(3) The personal representative shall take possession of the real property of the\ndecedent not disposed of by his will, and rent it out from year  to year until it is\notherwise legally disposed of, and pay the net proceeds to the department.\n(4) The personal representative shall also make out and transmit to the department a\ndescription of the quantity, quality, and estimated value of the real prope rty and its\nprobable annual profits.","path":["KRS Chapter 393"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=36192","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:23Z","sha256":"97bbfc05989128eb20c8f93167320a4654c7e5c2bcb6d20156af3f842936dd2d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-393.025","next":"us-ky/krs-393.040"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
