{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-393.068","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 393.068","heading":"Presumption of abandonment of personal property held by federal","body":"government.\n(1) All tangible personal property or intangible personal property, including choses in\naction in amounts certain, and all debts owed or entrusted funds or other property\nheld by the federal government or any federal agency, or any officer, or appointee\nthereof, shall be presumed abandoned in this state if the last known address of the\nowner of the property is in this state and the property has remained unclaimed for\nthree (3) years.\n(2) The federal government or any federal agency thereof which pays or de livers\nabandoned property to the department under this section is relieved of all liability to\nthe extent of the value of the property so paid or delivered for any claim which then\nexists or which thereafter may arise or be made in respect to the property.\n(3) The federal government or any federal agency thereof may deduct from the amounts\nto be paid or delivered to the department the proportionate share of the actual and\nnecessary costs of examining records and reporting such information.","path":["KRS Chapter 393"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42961","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:24Z","sha256":"58b65dc8304fa4a2c0607e47b36e8e5576a0e28afb21098799905024a0c3da09","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-393.066","next":"us-ky/krs-393.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
