{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-393a.790","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 393A.790","heading":"When confidential information may be disclosed.","body":"(1) When reasonably necessary to enforce or implement this chapter, the administrator\nmay disclose confidential information concerning property held by the administrator\nor the administrator's agent only to:\n(a) An apparent owner or the apparent owner's person al representative, attorney,\nother legal representative, relative, or agent designated under KRS 393A.760\nto have the information;\n(b) The personal representative, executor, other legal representative, relative of a\ndeceased apparent owner, agent designate d under KRS 393A.760 by the\ndeceased apparent owner, or a person entitled to inherit from the deceased\napparent owner;\n(c) Another department or agency of this state or the United States;\n(d) The person that administers the unclaimed property law of another state, if the\nother state accords substantially reciprocal privileges to the administrator of\nthis state if the other state is required to maintain the confidentiality and\nsecurity of information obtained in a manner substantially equivalent to KRS\n393A.770 to 393A.830; or\n(e) A person subject to an examination as required by KRS 393A.580(6).\n(2) Except as otherwise provided in KRS 393A.780(1), the administrator shall include\non the Web site or in the database required by KRS 393A.290(2)(b) the name of\neach apparent owner of property held by the administrator. The administrator may\ninclude in published notices, printed publications, telecommunications, the Internet,\nor other media and on the Web site or in the database additional information\nconcerning the  apparent owner's property if the administrator believes the\ninformation will assist in identifying and returning property to the owner and does\nnot disclose personal information except the home or physical address of an\napparent owner.\n(3) The administrat or and the administrator's agent shall not use confidential\ninformation provided to them or in their possession, except as expressly authorized\nby this chapter or required by law other than this chapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 393A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48176","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:25Z","sha256":"1832562831561cdbb0c01ab45f134f4b40fee9fed0ea0764a20308556206cfa1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-393a.780","next":"us-ky/krs-393a.800"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
