{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-39a.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 39A.060","heading":"Nature and scope of comprehensive program -- Director under direction","body":"of adjutant general.\nThe General Assembly recognizes that the nature and scope of the activities necessary to\ndevelop and to administer a statewide comprehensive emergency managemen t program,\ntogether with an integrated emergency management system requires the full support,\ncooperation, and active participation of all cabinets, departments, divisions, offices, or\nagencies of state government, local elected officials, local public age ncies or entities,\nspecial districts, political subdivisions of the Commonwealth, volunteer organizations,\nindividual citizens, and the private sector in this Commonwealth. To provide effective\nexecutive leadership for a program area of such broad scope an d to ensure the\nprofessional administration of the comprehensive emergency management program and\nintegrated emergency management system of the Commonwealth, the General Assembly\ndeclares:\n(1) The Division of Emergency Management shall be headed by a direc tor\nrecommended by the Adjutant General and appointed by the Governor; and\n(2) The director shall have the powers, rights, responsibilities, and authorities, as\nprovided in KRS Chapters 39A to 39F, or other laws, and shall carry out all duties\nunder the ge neral direction of the Adjutant General of the Department of Military\nAffairs.","path":["KRS Chapter 39A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=21700","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:58Z","sha256":"67b8b23c4135072b18682a6ddb916625a6b09a915610d02b49b6ee908bb0c562","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-39a.050","next":"us-ky/krs-39a.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
