{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-39a.356","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 39A.356","heading":"Operation of emergency system for advanced registration of volunteer","body":"health practitioners -- Relationship between Cabinet for Health and Family\nServices and other organizations -- Funding.\n(1) The Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall operate t he emergency system for\nadvanced registration of volunteer health practitioners. The system shall:\n(a) Accept applications for the registration of volunteer health practitioners before\nor during an emergency;\n(b) Include information about the licensure and  good standing of health\npractitioners that is accessible by authorized persons; and\n(c) Be capable of confirming the accuracy of information concerning whether a\nhealth practitioner is licensed and in good standing before health services are\nprovided under KRS 39A.350 to 39A.366.\n(2) The following organizations may maintain a list consisting of trained and equipped\nemergency response, public health, and medical personnel:\n(a) Local units formed under Section 300hh of Title 42 of the United States Code;\n(b) Disaster relief organizations;\n(c) Licensing boards;\n(d) National or regional associations of licensing boards of health practitioners;\n(e) Health facilities that provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient health -\ncare services, including a tertiary care and teaching hospital; or\n(f) Governmental entities.\n(3) The organizations listed in subsection (2) of this section shall develop a\ncollaborative relationship with the cabinet for the purposes of KRS 39A.350 to\n39A.366 and for the purposes of being reco gnized by the cabinet as a voluntary\nresponse resource.\n(4) The cabinet may receive state appropriations, gifts, grants, federal funds, and any\nother public or private funds to establish or maintain the registration system\nestablished in subsection (1) of this section.\n(5) While an emergency declaration is in effect, representatives of the Cabinet for\nHealth and Family Services or a host entity may confirm whether volunteer health\npractitioners utilized in this state are registered with the registration sys tem that\ncomplies with subsection (1) of this section. Confirmation is limited to obtaining\nidentities of the practitioners from the system and determining whether the system\nindicates that the practitioners are licensed and in good standing.\n(6) Upon request of a person in this state authorized under subsection (2) of this\nsection, or a similarly authorized person in another state, a registration system\nlocated in this state shall notify the person of the identities of volunteer health\npractitioners and whether the practitioners are licensed and in good standing.","path":["KRS Chapter 39A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=21731","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:58Z","sha256":"a178b34e1a66bf29140e7788b2344e56e6e76e7f89073168f0e483e79bbc5cb5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-39a.354","next":"us-ky/krs-39a.358"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
