{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-39d.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 39D.010","heading":"Temporary seat of state government -- Acts valid and binding.","body":"(1) When, during a state of emergency, it becomes imprudent, inexpedient, or\nimpossible to conduct the affairs of state government at the state capital, the\nGovernor shall, as often as the exigencies of the situation require, by proclamation,\ndesignate a tempo rary location for the seat of government at the place within this\nCommonwealth deemed advisable, and shall take action and issue orders necessary\nfor an orderly transition of the affairs of state government to the temporary location.\nIf practicable, the te mporary location designated by the Governor shall conform to\nthat provided for in the current Kentucky Emergency Operations Plan. The\ntemporary location shall remain as the seat of government until the Governor\nestablishes a new location under this section , or until the emergency is ended and\nthe seat of government is returned to its normal location.\n(2) While the seat of government remains at the temporary location, all official acts\nrequired by law to be performed at the seat of government by any officer,\nindependent agency, division, or authority of this Commonwealth, including the\nconvening and meeting of the General Assembly in regular or special session, shall\nbe as valid and binding when performed at that temporary location as if performed\nat the normal location.","path":["KRS Chapter 39D"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=21763","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:58Z","sha256":"a3b476189a99cbd35da904ce80c6451881f4b90838d867fc598406ab6db8588b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-39c.990","next":"us-ky/krs-39d.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
