{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-40.150","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 40.150","heading":"Board of review -- Appointment -- Only three members to act in any matter","body":"-- Compensation -- Dissolution.\n(1) There shall be a board of review consisting of nine (9) persons who are residents\nand qualified voters of the Commonwealth, appointed by the G overnor without\nlimitation as to political affiliation, religion, race, sex, or past or present service in\nthe Armed Forces, except that six (6) members of this board shall be veterans. The\nname of said board shall be \"The Kentucky Veterans' Bonus Board of Review.\" The\nGovernor shall designate a chairman and a secretary from among the membership.\n(2) Three (3) members and no more shall constitute a board of review, and shall by\nconcurrence of two (2) members decide any claim which comes before the board in\nthe manner provided in this chapter. The chairman of the board shall designate three\n(3) members to consider and decide each claim, having due regard for availability\nfor service so that delay may be avoided.\n(3) (a) Members of the board shall be compensat ed twenty -five dollars ($25) per\ndiem, but only for actual time served in considering and deciding claims for\nveterans' bonus pursuant to designation by the Governor.\n(b) All members of the board shall be reimbursed for necessary travel to and from\ntheir places of residence, and in performance of duties pursuant to assignment,\nat the rate of eight cents ($0.08) per mile.\n(4) Each claim coming before the board shall promptly be considered and decided by\nthe three (3) members designated for that purpose. In e very case the board shall\neither (a) affirm the decision of the administrator, or (b) determine that a veterans'\nbonus should be paid, and to what persons and in what amounts. No written\nopinions or recitations of reasons for any decision need be made. A s tatement of the\ndecision made shall be signed by at least two (2) of the three (3) members\ndesignated to decide the claim; and upon concurrence of two (2) members a\ndecision shall be final and not subject to reconsideration.\n(5) The Governor shall, upon no tification by the administrator that the last notice of a\ndisapproval claim has been mailed, notify the chairman of the board of review that\nit shall complete its work within sixty (60) calendar days from date of notification.\nOn the sixtieth day the Governor shall thereupon declare that the board of review is\ndissolved and shall so notify the members, and the functions and duties of the board\nshall be deemed to have been fully performed.","path":["KRS Chapter 40"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=21835","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:59Z","sha256":"50c346c6697b1e414448c4bbe6a2f54ee610944d952765538212d3568612182b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-40.140","next":"us-ky/krs-40.160"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
