{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-402.210","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 402.210","heading":"Requirements for issuance of license.","body":"(1) Both parties to a marriage shall:\n(a) Be present for a marriage license to be issued; and\n(b) Present to the county clerk documentary proof of age in the form of:\n1. A copy of a birth record;\n2. A certification of birth issued by the state department of he alth, a local\nregistrar of vital statistics, or other public office charged with similar\nduties by the laws of another state, territory, or country;\n3. A baptismal record showing the individual's date of birth;\n4. A passport;\n5. An automobile driver's license;\n6. Any government or school issued identification card showing the\nindividual's date of birth;\n7. An immigration record showing the individual's date of birth;\n8. A naturalization record showing the individual's date of birth; or\n9. A court record or any other document or record issued by a government\nentity showing the individual's date of birth.\n(2) If either of the parties is under seventeen (17) years of age, no license shall be\nissued.\n(3) If either of the parties is seventeen (17) years of age, a marriage license shall not be\nissued unless:\n(a) The party who is seventeen (17) years of age presents to the clerk a certified\ncopy of a court order by a family court or District Court judge that grants the\nparty permission to marry and removes the party's disability of minority, as\nprovided in KRS 402.205; and\n(b) At least fifteen (15) days have elapsed since the court order was granted.","path":["KRS Chapter 402"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47594","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:29Z","sha256":"a8aca4c354dfa64b8b1e7e72b188b8733264a86dc2be25c1b204590756a8fc13","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-402.205","next":"us-ky/krs-402.220"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
