{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-402.235","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 402.235","heading":"Correction of license by clerk -- Affidavit -- Penalty for false statement.","body":"(1) A clerk of the county where a marriage license was issued or recorded, upon receipt\nof an affidavit executed by both parties to the marriage, may correct a marria ge\napplication or marriage license that contains errors or omitted information. The\ncorrections may include but are not limited to:\n(a) Misspelling of a participant's name or address;\n(b) Misspelling of the name of a parent or witness;\n(c) Omitted witness, county of marriage, or officiant information; or\n(d) Incorrect:\n1. Occupational information;\n2. Marriage date;\n3. Location of birth; or\n4. Parent information.\n(2) Nothing in this section shall preclude the parties from obtaining a corrected\nmarriage license by an order of the court pertaining to any of the information in\nsubsection (1) of this section or as may be otherwise required by law.\n(3) Any person who intentionally makes a material false statement in the affidavit shall\nbe subject to the penalties prescribed in KRS 523.030.","path":["KRS Chapter 402"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56484","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:29Z","sha256":"cc049a3f60a6e1035d2b5a660402eedf0b1106c04afc714195109e49c2e1cc03","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-402.230","next":"us-ky/krs-402.240"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
