{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-403.310","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 403.310","heading":"Custody proceeding hearings shall receive priority.","body":"(1) Custody proceedings shall receive priority in being set for hearing.\n(2) The court may tax as costs the payment of necessary travel and other expenses\nincurred by any person whose presence at the hearing the court deems necessary to\ndetermine the best interests of the child.\n(3) The court without a jury shall determine questions of law and fact. If it finds that a\npublic hearing may be detrimental to the child's best interests, the court may\nexclude the public from a custody hearing, but may admit any per son who has a\ndirect and legitimate interest in the particular case or a legitimate educational or\nresearch interest in the work of the court.\n(4) If the court finds it necessary to protect the child's welfare that the record of any\ninterview, report, investigation, or testimony in a custody proceeding be kept secret,\nthe court may make an appropriate order sealing the record.","path":["KRS Chapter 403"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1468","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:29Z","sha256":"1ab449cb18a26be474e85e2c66e01792697b2d69f02bc69e6648d1192aeb70fa","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-403.300","next":"us-ky/krs-403.315"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
