{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-403.715","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 403.715","heading":"Interpretation of KRS 403.715 to 403.785.","body":"KRS 403.715 to 403.785 shall be interpreted to:\n(1) Allow victims to obtain effective, short -term protection against further wrongful\nconduct in order that their lives may be as secure and as uninterrupted as possible;\n(2) Expand the ability of law enforce ment officers to effectively respond to further\nwrongful conduct so as to prevent future incidents and to provide assistance to the\nvictims;\n(3) Provide peace officers with the authority to immediately apprehend and charge for\nviolation of an order of prot ection any person whom the officer has probable cause\nto believe has violated an order of protection and to provide courts with the\nauthority to conduct contempt of court proceedings for these violations;\n(4) Provide for the collection of data concerning i ncidents of domestic violence and\nabuse in order to develop a comprehensive analysis of the numbers and causes of\nsuch incidents; and\n(5) Supplement and not repeal or supplant any duties, responsibilities, services, or\npenalties under KRS Chapters 209, 209A, and 620.","path":["KRS Chapter 403"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44749","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:30Z","sha256":"f72631233df230f037b024b80ec4e4a450c4a876cdd5d2fcf091e552a510aeac","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-403.710","next":"us-ky/krs-403.720"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
