{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-403.785","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 403.785","heading":"Duties of law enforcement officers and agencies.","body":"(1) A court issuing an order of protection shall direct the appropriate law enforcement\nagency to assist the petitioner in having the provisions of the order complied with.\n(2) When a law enforcement officer has reason to suspect that a person has been the\nvictim of domestic violence and abuse, the officer shall use all reasonable means to\nprovide assistance to the victim, including but not limited to:\n(a) Remaining at the location of the call for assistance so long as the officer\nreasonably suspects there is d anger to the physical safety of individuals there\nwithout the presence of a law enforcement officer;\n(b) Assisting the victim in obtaining medical treatment, including transporting the\nvictim to the nearest medical facility capable of providing the necessa ry\ntreatment;\n(c) Advising the victim immediately of the rights available to them as provided in\nKRS 421.500, including the provisions of this chapter; and\n(d) Completing a JC -3 form, or its equivalent replacement, and providing the\ninformation to the Cri minal Justice Statistical Analysis Center pursuant to\nKRS 209A.110.\n(3) Orders of protection shall be enforced in any county of the Commonwealth.\n(4) Officers acting in good faith under this section shall be immune from criminal and\ncivil liability.","path":["KRS Chapter 403"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53169","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:30Z","sha256":"e5035718dc57c9e871cead15f99924261c931cb42730c82cdf70bbd68da8117b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-403.784","next":"us-ky/krs-403.800"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
