{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-403.824","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 403.824","heading":"Exclusive, continuing jurisdiction.","body":"(1) Except as otherwise provided in KRS 403.828, a court of this state which has made\na child custody determination consistent with KRS 403.822 or 403.826 has\nexclusive, continuing jurisdiction over the determination until:\n(a) A court of this state determines that neither the child, nor the child and one (1)\nparent, nor the child and a person acting as a parent have a significant\nconnection with this state and that substantial evidence is no longer available\nin this state concerning the child's care, protectio n, training, and personal\nrelationships; or\n(b) A court of this state or a court of another state determines that the child, the\nchild's parents, and any other person acting as a parent do not presently reside\nin this state.\n(2) A court of this state which  has made a child custody determination and does not\nhave exclusive, continuing jurisdiction under this section may modify that\ndetermination only if it has jurisdiction to make an initial determination under KRS\n403.822.","path":["KRS Chapter 403"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17506","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:31Z","sha256":"ad57b18e34d1ef641e69a3ca11985b353ed34adf91f81ee2415b634e6373555d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-403.822","next":"us-ky/krs-403.826"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
