{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-403.870","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 403.870","heading":"Role of county attorney or other appropriate public official.","body":"(1) In a case arising under KRS 403.800 to 403.880 or involving the Hague Convention\non the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, the county attorney or other\nappropriate public official may take any lawful action, including resort to a\nproceeding under Article 3 or any other available civil proceeding to locate a child,\nobtain the return of a child, or enforce a child custody determination if there is:\n(a) An existing child custody determination;\n(b) A request to do so from a court in a pending child custody proceeding;\n(c) A reasonable belief that a criminal statute has been violated; or\n(d) A reasonable belief that the child has been wrongfully removed or retained in\nviolation of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child\nAbduction.\n(2) A county attorney or other appropriate public official acting under this section acts\non behalf of the court and shall not represent any party.","path":["KRS Chapter 403"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17529","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:31Z","sha256":"215528771b8875442e8f125d1dbeb87dba66da46c37ff92c61b39d2415db870c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-403.868","next":"us-ky/krs-403.872"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
