{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-406.031","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 406.031","heading":"Limitation of action.","body":"(1) The determination of paternity under the provisions of KRS 406.021(1) shall be\ncommenced within eighteen (18) years after the birth, miscarriage or stillbirth of a\nchild. However, in such cases, liability for child support shall not predate the\ninitiation of action taken to determine paternity as set forth in KRS 406.021 if the\naction is taken two (2) years or more from the date of birth.\n(2) Any person for whom paternity has not yet been established and who had not\nreached eighteen (18) years of age as of August 16, 1984, including those persons\nfor whom a paternity action was brought but dismissed because a statute of\nlimitations of less than eighteen (18) years was then in effect, may bring an action to\nestablish paternity.","path":["KRS Chapter 406"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50997","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:32Z","sha256":"969fd7bfb1f7fe3df4f1f532d7281d75a9da45b00997c1d4a263a3b6f5df59f0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-406.030","next":"us-ky/krs-406.035"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
