{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-407.5204","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 407.5204","heading":"Simultaneous proceedings.","body":"(1) A tribunal of this state may exercise jurisdiction to establish a support order if the\npetition or comparable pleading is filed after a petition or comparable pleading is\nfiled in another state or a foreign country only if:\n(a) The petition or comparable p leading in this state is filed before the expiration\nof the time allowed in the other state or the foreign country for filing a\nresponsive pleading challenging the exercise of jurisdiction by the other state\nor the foreign country;\n(b) The contesting party timely challenges the exercise of jurisdiction in the other\nstate or the foreign country; and\n(c) If relevant, this state is the home state of the child.\n(2) A tribunal of this state may not exercise jurisdiction to establish a support order if\nthe petition or comparable pleading is filed before a petition or comparable pleading\nis filed in another state or a foreign country if:\n(a) The petition or comparable pleading in the other state or foreign country is\nfiled before the expiration of the time allowed in this state for filing a\nresponsive pleading challenging the exercise of jurisdiction by this state;\n(b) The contesting party timely challenges the exercise of jurisdiction in this state;\nand\n(c) If relevant, the other state or foreign country is the home state of the child.","path":["KRS Chapter 407"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44083","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:33Z","sha256":"9b5898c231868c5089cfa979706a01413fee53e43ba7f46e559e1450b908e8fa","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-407.5203","next":"us-ky/krs-407.5205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
