{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-407.5604","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 407.5604","heading":"Choice of law.","body":"(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (4) of this section, the law of the issuing\nstate or foreign country governs:\n(a) The nature, extent, amount, and duration of current payments under a\nregistered support order;\n(b) The computation and payment of a rrearages and accrual of interest on the\narrearages under the support order; and\n(c) The existence and satisfaction of other obligations under the support order.\n(2) In a proceeding for arrears under a registered support order, the statute of limitation\nof this state, or of the issuing state or foreign country, whichever is longer, applies.\n(3) A responding tribunal of this state shall apply the procedures and remedies of this\nstate to enforce current support and collect arrears and interest due on a suppor t\norder of another state or a foreign country registered in this state.\n(4) After a tribunal of this state or another state determines which is the controlling\norder and issues an order consolidating arrears, if any, a tribunal of this state shall\nprospectively apply the law of the state or foreign country issuing the controlling\norder, including its law on interest on arrears, on current and future support, and on\nconsolidated arrears.","path":["KRS Chapter 407"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=44119","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:34Z","sha256":"e5b0ba8b135890bf52532ca659f7cf91bac12531b5f12862244591a75d24096e","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-407.5603","next":"us-ky/krs-407.5605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
