In the proceeding, the law of\nthis state applies.\n(2) A petitioner may file a direct request seeking recognition and e nforcement of a\nsupport order or support agreement. In the proceeding, KRS 407.5706, 407.5707,\n407.5708, 407.5709, 407.5710, 407.5711, 407.5712, and 407.5713 apply.\n(3) In a direct request for recognition and enforcement of a Convention support order\nor foreign support agreement:\n(a) A security, bond, or deposit is not required to guarantee the payment of costs\nand expenses; and\n(b) An obligee or obligor that in the issuing country has benefited from free legal\nassistance is entitled to benefit, at least to  the same extent, from any free legal\nassistance provided for by the law of this state under the same circumstances.\n(4) A petitioner filing a direct request is not entitled to assistance from the Office of the\nAttorney General.\n(5) This Article does not p revent the application of laws of this state that provide\nsimplified, more expeditious rules regarding a direct request for recognition and\nenforcement of a foreign support order or foreign support agreement.","path":["KRS Chapter 407"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54400","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:34Z","sha256":"378fa0e0bfde52b6824f47ad749b60c56570d523d16d0835285d68220281ac46","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-407.5704","next":"us-ky/krs-407.5706"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
