{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-411.148","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 411.148","heading":"Nonliability of licensees and certified technicians for emergency care.","body":"(1) No physician licensed under KRS Chapter 311, registered or practical nurse\nlicensed under KRS Chapter 314, person certified as an emergency medical\ntechnician by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, person certified\nby the American Heart A ssociation or the American Red Cross to perform\ncardiopulmonary resuscitation, or employee of any board of education established\npursuant to the provision of KRS 160.160, who has completed a course in first aid\nand who maintains current certification there in in accordance with the standards set\nforth by the American Red Cross shall be liable in civil damages for administering\nemergency care or treatment at the scene of an emergency outside of a hospital,\ndoctor's office, or other place having proper medical  equipment excluding house\ncalls, for acts performed at the scene of such emergency, unless such acts constitute\nwillful or wanton misconduct.\n(2) Nothing in this section applies to the administering of such care or treatment where\nthe same is rendered for remuneration or with the expectation of remuneration.\n(3) The administering of emergency care or treatment at the scene of an emergency by\nemployees of a board of education shall not be considered to be rendered for\nremuneration or with the expectation of  remuneration because such personnel\nperform such care as part of their regular professional or work responsibilities for\nwhich they receive their regular salaries from the school board which is their\nemployer.","path":["KRS Chapter 411"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17775","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:35Z","sha256":"3561098b9368b32080ea11e90534eef751aeb16591f10e3c73ac9dacaac93db9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-411.145","next":"us-ky/krs-411.150"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
