{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-411.270","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 411.270","heading":"Definitions for KRS 411.270 to 411.282.","body":"As used in KRS 411.270 to 411.282, unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Action\" means any civil lawsuit or action in contract or tort for damages or\nindemnity brought against a home inspector to assert a claim, whether by complaint,\ncounterclaim, or  cross-claim, for damages or the loss of use of real or personal\nproperty caused by a deficient home inspection or home inspection report regarding\nthe inspection of a home. \"Action\" does not include any civil action in tort alleging\npersonal injury or wro ngful death to a person or persons resulting from a deficient\nhome inspection or home inspection report;\n(2) \"Claimant\" means a client who asserts a claim against a home inspector concerning\na deficient home inspection or home inspection report regarding t he inspection of a\nhome;\n(3) \"Home\" means a structure consisting of at least one (1) but not more than four (4)\nunits, each designed for occupancy by a single family, whether the units are\noccupied or unoccupied;\n(4) \"Home inspector\" means a person license d in accordance with KRS 198B.700 to\n198B.738; and\n(5) \"Serve\" or \"service\" means personal service or delivery by certified mail to the last\nknown address of the addressee.","path":["KRS Chapter 411"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=17802","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:35Z","sha256":"6dd1a473c867ec57ed6d9b48692204e0762bbe4c34fd7dda9bf0960488480a63","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-411.266","next":"us-ky/krs-411.272"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
