{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-416.540","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 416.540","heading":"Definitions for KRS 416.540 to 416.670.","body":"As used in KRS 416.540 to 416.670:\n(1) \"Condemn\" means to take private property for a public use under the right of\neminent domain;\n(2) \"Condemnor\" shall mean and include any person, corporation or entity, including\nthe Commonwealth of Kentucky, its agencies and departments, county, municipality\nand taxing district authorized and empowered by law to exercise the right of\neminent domain;\n(3) \"Condemnee\" means the owner of the property interest being taken;\n(4) \"Court\" means the Circuit Court;\n(5) \"Eminent domain\" means the right of the Commonwealth to take for public use and\nshall include the right of private persons, corporations, or business entities to do so\nunder authority of law;\n(6) \"Government lien\" means any lien established by or in favor of the Comm onwealth\nor a local government under KRS Chapter 65, 82, 91, 91A, or 134;\n(7) \"Local government\" means any city, county, urban -county government,\nconsolidated local government, unified local government, or charter county; and\n(8) \"Property\" means real or p ersonal property, or both, of any nature or kind that is\nsubject to condemnation.","path":["KRS Chapter 416"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=45368","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:37Z","sha256":"52cb6d0dc62fcaddd8e4841c7827b4683f6921d829ae41df482437b917041bb4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-416.530","next":"us-ky/krs-416.550"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
