{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-416.570","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 416.570","heading":"Filing of petition.","body":"Except as otherwise provided in KRS 416.560, a condemnor seeking to condemn\nproperty or the use and occupation of the property, shall file a verified petition in the\nCircuit Court of the county in which all or the greater portion of the property sought to be\ncondemned is located, which petition shall state that it is filed under the provisions of\nKRS 416.540 to 416.670 and shall contain, in substance:\n(1) Allegations sufficient to show that the petitioner is entitled, under the provisions of\napplicable law,  to exercise the right of eminent domain and to condemn the\nproperty, or the use and occupation thereof, sought to be taken in such proceedings;\n(2) A particular description of the property and the use and occupation thereof sought\nto be condemned; and\n(3) An application to the court to appoint commissioners to award the amount of\ncompensation the owner of the property sought to be condemned is entitled to\nreceive therefor.","path":["KRS Chapter 416"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56852","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:37Z","sha256":"ac406350d9680fcefedb0a8912424806070bdf04393a1f0d2b23f20560aa88bd","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-416.560","next":"us-ky/krs-416.580"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
