{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-42.014","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 42.014","heading":"Organization of cabinet.","body":"(1) There is established within the cabinet the:\n(a) Office of the Secretary;\n(b) Commonwealth Office of Technology and the Office of the Controller, each\nof which shall be headed by an executive director appointed by the secretary\nwith the approval of the Governor;\n(c) Kentucky Communications Network Authority established in KRS 154.15 -\n020 and headed by the executive director of the Commonwealth Office of\nTechnology;\n(d) Board of the Kentucky Communications Network Authority established in\nKRS 154.15-030; and\n(e) Department of Revenue and the Department for Facilities and Support\nServices, each of which shall be headed by a commissioner appointed by the\nsecretary, upon the approval of the Governor, and responsible to the secretary.\nEach of these departments may have at least one (1) major assistant not in the\nclassified service.\n(2) The secretary shall establish the internal organization and assignment of functions\nwhich are not established by statute, and shall divide the cabinet into the offices,\nbureaus, divisions, or other units the secretary deems necessary to perform the\nfunctions, powers, and duties of the cabinet, subject to the provisions of KRS\nChapter 12.\n(3) All appointments under this chapter to positions not in the classified service shall be\nmade pursuant to KRS 12.050, and such appointees shall be major assistants to the\nsecretary and shall assist in the development of policy.","path":["KRS Chapter 42"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56751","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:01Z","sha256":"81efc08336743c90b712cab934935b518e1014a7cc9185836a5361b368f411ba","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-42.013","next":"us-ky/krs-42.0141"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
