{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-42.630","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 42.630","heading":"Legislative findings.","body":"The General Assembly finds and declares that:\n(1) Much of the Commonwealth's information is geographically referenced and may be\npresented through geographic information systems;\n(2) Geographic information systems allow for the exchange of information between\nlevels of government and facilitate the management of the Commonwealth's natural,\nhuman, cultural, and economic resources;\n(3) There is a need to reduce redundancy in data -collection and development efforts, to\ncoordinate the various activities in geographic information systems, and to share\ngeographic information system resources and expertise to maximize the\nCommonwealth's investment in geographic information systems technology;\n(4) Considerations of cost and the need for the transfer of information among agencies\nof state government in the most time ly and useful form possible require a uniform\npolicy and coordinated approach for the use of geographic information systems;\n(5) It is the policy of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to coordinate and direct the use\nof geographic information resources and techn ologies to provide the most cost -\neffective and useful retrieval of information by its elected and appointed officials.","path":["KRS Chapter 42"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=22078","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:03Z","sha256":"31f02b2ce397c2a2d1df29975e7d2516251e7cfe5d3961dcd710267a9a0d59e8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-42.615","next":"us-ky/krs-42.640"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
