{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-42.730","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 42.730","heading":"Executive director of Commonwealth Office of Technology -- Roles and","body":"duties.\n(1) The executive director of the Commonwealth Office of Technology shall be the\nprincipal adviser to the Governor and the executive cabinet on information\ntechnology p olicy, including policy on the acquisition and management of\ninformation technology and resources.\n(2) The executive director of the Commonwealth Office of Technology shall also serve\nas the chief information officer for all agencies within the executive b ranch,\nincluding the Commonwealth Office of Technology.\n(3) The executive director shall carry out functions necessary for the efficient, effective,\nand economical administration of information technology and resources within the\nexecutive branch. Roles and duties of the executive director shall include but not be\nlimited to:\n(a) Assessing, recommending, and implementing information technology\ngovernance and organization design to include effective information\ntechnology personnel management practices;\n(b) Integrating information technology and resources plans with agency business\nplans;\n(c) Overseeing shared Commonwealth information technology resources and\nservices;\n(d) Performing as the focal point and representative for the Commonwealth in\ninformation te chnology and related areas with both the public and private\nsector;\n(e) Establishing appropriate partnerships and alliances to support the effective\nimplementation of information technology projects in the Commonwealth;\n(f) Identifying information technolo gy applications that should be statewide in\nscope, and assisting agencies in avoiding duplicate services;\n(g) Establishing performance measurement and benchmarking policies and\nprocedures;\n(h) Preparing annual reports and plans concerning the status and re sult of the\nstate's specific information technology plans and submitting these annual\nreports and plans to the Governor and the General Assembly;\n(i) Managing the Commonwealth Office of Technology and its budget; and\n(j) Approving technology acquisition prior to any procurement.","path":["KRS Chapter 42"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47712","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:49:03Z","sha256":"a5cf10a6157f7183bc3444772084e9cf4582d61b04b33453981d20c1c991e95b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-42.728","next":"us-ky/krs-42.731"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
