{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-426.965","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 426.965","heading":"Stay.","body":"(1) If the judgment debtor shows the court that an appeal from the foreign judgment is\npending or will be taken, or that a stay of execution has been granted, the court shall\nstay enforcement of the foreign judgment until the appeal is concluded, the time for\nappeal expires, or the stay of execution expires or is vacated, upon proof that the\njudgment debtor has furnished the security for the satisfaction of the judgment\nrequired by the state in which it was rendered.\n(2) If the judgment debtor shows the court a ny ground upon which enforcement of a\njudgment of any court of this state would be stayed, including the ground that an\nappeal from the foreign judgment is pending or will be taken, or that the time for\ntaking such an appeal has not yet expired, the court shall stay enforcement of the\nforeign judgment for an appropriate period until all available appeals are concluded\nor the time for taking all appeals has expired, upon requiring the same security for\nsatisfaction of the judgment which is required in this state, subject to KRS 411.187.","path":["KRS Chapter 426"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=18535","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:44Z","sha256":"0a9620710ce80489509ddbe7a49c1ba7865e79c7f95e539f6576d28df1dc8405","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-426.960","next":"us-ky/krs-426.970"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
