{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-427.005","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 427.005","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) The term \"earnings\" means compensation paid or payable for personal services,\nwhether denominated as wages, salary, commission, bonus, or otherwise, and\nincludes periodic payments pursuant to a pension or retirement program.\n(2) The term \"disposable earnin gs\" means that part of the earnings of any individual\nremaining after the deduction from those earnings of any amounts required by law\nto be withheld.\n(3) The term \"garnishment\" means any legal or equitable procedure through which the\nearnings of any individual are required to be withheld for payment of any debt.\n(4) The terms \"household furnishings, jewelry, personal clothing, and ornaments\" mean\nclothing, furniture, appliances, linens, china, crockery, kitchenware, and personal\neffects of an individual and the individual's dependents, but do not include:\n(a) Works of art;\n(b) Electronic entertainment equipment (except to the extent of one (1) television\nand one (1) radio);\n(c) Antiques; and\n(d) Jewelry other than wedding rings.","path":["KRS Chapter 427"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=18539","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:45Z","sha256":"9044450f7524f42a647f859a9f89505856bfbe3adc70c81ee1b56ad2618610f5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-426.990","next":"us-ky/krs-427.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
