{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-431.021","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 431.021","heading":"Guaranteed arrest bond certificate of surety company to be accepted in","body":"lieu of cash bail in traffic cases.\n(1) A guaranteed arrest bond certificate presented by the person whose signature\nappears thereon shall be accepted in lieu of cash bail in an am ount not to exceed\ntwo hundred dollars ($200) as a bail bond to guarantee the appearance of such\nperson in any court of this Commonwealth, at the time required by such court, when\nhe is arrested for violation of any law of this Commonwealth or traffic ordi nance of\nany municipality therein relating to the operation of a motor vehicle. A guaranteed\narrest bond certificate so presented as a bail bond is subject to the same forfeiture\nand enforcement provisions as a bail bond or cash bail, but is not subject to  Rules\n4.30 and 4.34 of the Kentucky Rules of Criminal Procedure. However:\n(a) The violation must have been committed prior to the expiration date shown on\nthe guaranteed arrest bond certificate, and\n(b) A guaranteed arrest bond certificate may not be ac cepted when a person is\narrested for violation of KRS 189A.010 or KRS Chapter 281.\n(2) As used in this section, \"guaranteed arrest bond certificate\" means a printed card or\nother certificate issued by an association to any of its members, which is signed by\nthe member and contains a printed statement that such association and a surety\ncompany licensed to do business in this Commonwealth:\n(a) Guarantee the appearance of the person whose signature appears on the card\nor certificate, and\n(b) Will, in the ev ent of the failure of such person to appear in court at the time\nset for appearance, pay any fine or forfeiture imposed upon such person in an\namount not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200).","path":["KRS Chapter 431"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=18569","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:45Z","sha256":"87b5059e8261797b5d6a2a0c908a66940a4cb50f5e3812c7513fcc17747e8b00","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-431.020","next":"us-ky/krs-431.025"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
