{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-431.515","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 431.515","heading":"Pretrial release investigation and services -- Provision of information on","body":"services and programs for combat veterans.\n(1) All trial courts in this Commonwealth having jurisdiction of criminal causes shall\nprovide such pretrial release investigation and services as necessary to effectuate the\npurposes of KRS 431.510 to 431.550, including KRS 431.518, and, where practical,\nto assist in the earliest possible determination of:\n(a) Whether a person is a needy person under KRS Chapter 31; and\n(b) Whether a p erson has been in combat by asking the question, \"Have you\nserved in the National Guard or the United States Armed Forces and been in\ncombat?\" during the pretrial release investigation.\n(2) The Supreme Court may by appropriate rule or order establish and p rovide for such\npretrial investigation and release services including, where practical, the taking of\nfinancial statements, and the court's determination of whether a person is a needy\nperson as provided in KRS 31.120.\n(3) Pretrial officers shall give cont act information on the Kentucky National Guard\nFamily Services Program within the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs or\nsimilar programs which provide a full range of services for combat veterans to any\nperson who states that he or she has been in combat, including an opportunity to call\nthe program during the interview.","path":["KRS Chapter 431"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=18628","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:46Z","sha256":"ec88726ca2ffe5eb7bb34d06a63665d34d59a958faf6460a16eaabaab800ff38","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-431.510","next":"us-ky/krs-431.517"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
