{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-431.545","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 431.545","heading":"Forfeiture of bail; Prosecution.","body":"If a defendant shall willfully fail to appear or shall willfully fail to comply with the\nconditions of his release:\n(1) The court may order a forfeiture of the bail, serving a copy thereof upon the\ndefendant and his surety or sureties at their last known addresses; if the defendant or\nhis surety or sureties do not appear within twenty (20) days after service of the order\nor a return of not found and satisfy the court that appearance or compliance by the\ndefendant was impossible and without his fault, the c ourt may  enter judgment\nagainst the defendant and his surety or sureties for the amount of the bail and the\ncosts of the proceedings for all of which execution may issue; and\n(2) The defendant shall be subject to prosecution for the offenses prescribed i n KRS\n520.070 and 520.080.","path":["KRS Chapter 431"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=18640","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:46Z","sha256":"1eb83b109ed91cbd304dbf6800ed048043013924f326ea3649e4eb74ebd1ff7f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-431.540","next":"us-ky/krs-431.550"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
