{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-434.685","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 434.685","heading":"Misuse of electronic information prohibited.","body":"(1) Any person who, with intent to defraud the issuer, the cardholder, or any other\nperson or organization, (a) intercepts, taps or alters electronic information between\nan automated banking device and the issuer, or (b) originates electronic information\nto an  automated banking device or to the issuer, via any line, wire, or any other\nmeans of electronic transmission, at any junction or terminal, or at any location\nwithin an E.F.T. system, for the purpose of obtaining money, goods, services or\nanything else of value, violates this subsection and is subject to the penalties set\nforth in subsection (2) of KRS 434.730.\n(2) Any person who, with intent to defraud the issuer, cardholder, or any other person\nor organization, intercepts, taps or alters electronic inform ation between an\nautomated banking device and the issuer, or originates electronic information to an\nautomated banking device or to the issuer, via any line, wire, or other means of\nelectronic transmission, at any junction or terminal, or at any location w ithin the\nE.F.T. system, and therefore causes funds to be transferred from one account to any\nother account, violates this subsection and is subject to the penalties set forth in\nsubsection (2) of KRS 434.730.","path":["KRS Chapter 434"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=18908","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:49Z","sha256":"0c72ffcdd95f62dd7a78290f14d4e02fcb06c41e0e589952525283ecee554fd3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-434.680","next":"us-ky/krs-434.690"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
