{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-441.207","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 441.207","heading":"Local corrections assistance fund -- Annual distributions to counties.","body":"(1) The local corrections assistance fund is created as a separate revolving fund to be\nadministered by the department. The fund shall consist of amounts transferred to\nthe fu nd pursuant to KRS 196.288, along with any other proceeds from grants,\ncontributions, appropriations, or other moneys made available for purposes of the\nfund.\n(2) Notwithstanding KRS 45.229, amounts not expended at the close of a fiscal year\nshall not lapse but shall be carried forward to the next fiscal year.\n(3) Any interest earnings from the fund shall become a part of the fund and shall not\nlapse.\n(4) Moneys in the fund shall be distributed to the counties each year. Amounts\ndistributed from the fund sh all be used to support local correctional facilities and\nprograms, including the transportation of prisoners, as follows:\n(a) In each fiscal year, the first three million dollars ($3,000,000) received by the\nfund, or, if the fund receives less than three million dollars ($3,000,000), the\nentire balance of the fund, shall be divided equally among all counties; and\n(b) Any moneys remaining after making the distributions required by paragraph\n(a) of this subsection shall be distributed to each county based o n a ratio, the\nnumerator of which shall be the county's county inmate population on the\nsecond Thursday in January during the prior fiscal year, and the denominator\nof which shall be the total counties' county inmate population for the entire\nstate on the second Thursday in January during the prior fiscal year.","path":["KRS Chapter 441"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56974","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:59:55Z","sha256":"843c42ce7194dd5405bc820aced54c06c69b4855d3f5a941976dc76a7e90c2ad","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-441.206","next":"us-ky/krs-441.210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
